In January 2011 Linda Lee won a commission from Signposts (the writing development agency for South Yorkshire) to write a one hour musical drama as part of the Shoebox Experiment series.

'At The Crossroads Cafe' was first performed in June 2011. In the tradition of Decameron, Canterbury Tales and Bus Stop, it weaves a tale of travellers who meet at a roadside café and tell their stories, revolving round the central figures of Mo and Charlie who run the café and whose relationship has reached a crisis point.

Their customers also have their own stories to tell, through the action and dialogue and through the songs which are performed live by the Crossroads Café’s house band, commenting and reflecting on what goes on around them.

Linda Lee is currently expanding the play to full feature length and also developing two film screenplays.
